How we can help
The services we offer are wide-ranging and vary from one individual to another. The cost of this service is £15.00 per hour plus mileage at 40p per mile. Our highly skilled staff can support you with areas around:
- Correspondence and form filling
- Benefit advice and information
- Enabling access to housing - help with registering on housing list and supporting with applying for appropriate housing.
- Housing related issues - contacting housing authorities regarding repairs, chasing up repairs.
- Assistance to move home
- Explaining their rights, and the responsibilities, that come with their tenancy
- Helping to get settled into the local community
- Budgeting and finance support
- Advocating - attending meetings with professionals eg medical/dental to support client and take notes to remind client of what had been done/said regarding the meeting.
- Arranging for fire, police safety checks
- Supporting with neighbour disputes
- Support with training, education, social inclusion - support to apply and enrol for training or educational courses. Assist with identifying funding to pay for this. Support to attend first session, where necessary.
- Assist to look for voluntary work in local community
- Help with accessing shops.
- Signposting - giving information on other appropriate organisations
- Liaising with statutory and voluntary services to ensure a multi-agency approach to the client's needs
- Accessing charity funding - for purchase of white goods, flooring, furnishings, wheelchairs, IT equipment, electrical items, holidays, removal costs etc
- Access to transport - identifying bus routes, timetables and supporting clients to use public transport.
- Personal safety - carrying out risk assessments and identifying suitable personal alarms
- Health and well being - support to register with local GPs and dentists
- Reducing incidences of harassment
- Developing personal coping skills
- Advising on physical aids and adaptations
Whilst not everyone will need all of the above services all of the time, the underlying aim of our floating support service is to ensure that they can access relevant services when required. Our emphasis is on empowerment and independence.
We always look for the person's ability - not their disability.
This service is free of charge to those with a physical and/or sensory disability who are in receipt of DLA and/or housing benefit.
We also provide a bespoke service aimed at those who are in receipt of direct payments or a personal budget. This is a chargeable service.
We can help with:
- Managing your personal budget or direct payment
- Managing your staff and employment issues - including staff rota, timesheets, mediation, staff team meetings/supervision
- Personal shopping
- Food shopping and meal preparation
- Support to attend appointment and take notes, where required
- Outings
- Companionship/sitting service
