Gloucestershire Disability Forum: About the Forum
The Gloucestershire Disability Forum is a network and campaigning group
for associated disability groups within the county.
The forum provides people with a disability the opportunity to have a
say in the quality and type of services provided by the statutory and
voluntary organisations and other providers in the county.
Forum members meet regularly to discuss and act on a number of issues:
- Sharing information through training, information briefs and invited
speakers on specialist issues
- Maintaining a central mailing list of disability groups and people
in the county
- Identifying problems and deficiencies in the delivery of services
and proposing improvements
- Identifying opportunities to develop and expand services
- Providing a united voice on disability in the county
- Lobbying and campaigning as appropriate
- Highlighting common issues and problems
- Supporting individual groups
- Providing a central source of advice for interested parties and organisations
- Linking like-minded groups such as access, transport or day centre
groups
- Inviting representatives from the statutory sector countywide to explain
their policies, delivery of services etc. and respond to issues of interest
